�@�@City in central Miyagi Prefecture, northern Honshu, on Matsushima Bay. In the Edo period (1600-1868) it developed as a fishing port and as a shrine town around the Shiogama Shrine. Principal industries are fishing and seafood processing. A large number of people are drawn to the Shiogama port festival each August .
